TESCO stores logistics center in Czech Republic
New charging station in the biggest Czech TESCO warehouse near Prague was built and launched in August 2017 in cooperation with our partner IBG Česko. Many thousand pieces of goods are flown by this logistics center every day. Forklift truck fleet has to be ready to operate at every moment. It is the main goal of the charging station.
The charging station is equipped by modern high-frequency chargers FLEXIS from AXIMA company. One of the reasons why were chosen high-frequency battery chargers was their high efficiency and low operation cost against transformer charger. Sophisticated config software allows detailed settings for FLEXIS chargers for ideal care for batteries in every charging cycle.
There are more than 140 battery chargers which ensure charging for different types of forklifts in one of the warehouse hall. For quick, intuitive and error-free battery changes, the AXINET charging station management system is installed here.
The AXINET system is designed for more effective and simpler operation in a charging station. The AXINET connect FLEXIS chargers to the net and manages via signalization on chargers (LED towers) and on industrial displays the battery exchanges. Chargers are divided into groups according to battery types. Every battery has a unique QR code, which the operator scans and starts the exchange. The system marks the right charging place for a discharged battery and after that, the system marks a position with the most suitable charged battery. This identification eliminates replacement errors and gives the manager a clear overview of the status of individual batteries, individual cycles and battery operator behavior. The system records any incorrect operator behavior, saves the charging information to the archive, and then presents it in clear graphs.
After two years of operation of this charging station, we found that the operation and maintenance costs of the batteries were significantly reduced. Thanks to the use of so-called rested batteries and timely replacement, operation is cheaper and smoother. The cyclical way of replacing ensures that all the batteries used in the warehouse are used evenly. It is possible to better determine their condition and to predict the time when they will have to be replaced by new ones.
AXINET has brought order and simplicity to battery changes. Wireless scanners read tags from batteries, and the system, using industrial monitors and LED towers on the chargers, indicates the correct charging point for exchange. The operator only needs a single scan from the scanner and the system intuitively performs the operation by individual steps. This eliminates errors and confusion during exchanges and keeps the logistics center running smoothly. Everything could be monitored, evaluated and adjusted from the comfort of the office via remote access.
